Ken McKown writes: DmC is one of the best action games of last generation. There I said it, and I feel good about it. I think Ninja Theory brought the series into a new light with a coherent story, fantastic set pieces and amazing combat. Toss aside all the drama surrounding the title, and I feel it is some of the best stuff Capcom has put out in the genre in a long time.

DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition Review | Highdefdigest

Highdefdigest: 'DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition' is the latest in the very popular (at least with publishers) trend of bringing PS3/360 era games to the PS4 and 360. This two year old game arrives on the PS4 and Xbox One with a number of promised enhancements that range from the technical (1080p at 60fps) to the nuanced options like the turbo modifier or the manual lock-on to the more content focused included DLC and (gasp) new all-new content.

VG: Remember back in 2013 when all the internet had to get mad about was a different hair colour for an angsty demon hunter? Such a colossal fuss was made over Ninja Theorys decision to give Dante a goth makeover that it almost overshadowed what is the best entry into the series. The superb weapon variety, combat and level design made Ninja Theorys entry one to silence the doubters. With the Definitive Edition, we get the expected 1080p/60 fps upgrade, but it is the games tweaks and tools, which allow the player to cater the experience to their own style, that make this a great remaster.

DmC: Devil May Cry - Definitive Edition Review | Push Square

PS: You can almost feel Ninja Theory's middle finger protruding out of DmC: Devil May Cry - Definitive Edition, a remastered version of its polarising 2013 reboot. Rather than settle for a simple visual overhaul, the Cambridge-based developer has delved deep into the core of its divisive PlayStation 3 title, retuning aspects of the urban overhaul specifically to the tastes of those outspoken aficionados that lambasted the original even prior to its release. But with a changelog as long as Dante's famous Rebellion rapier which includes such miniscule modifications as the removal of Vergil's fugly fedora does this stand any chance of winning the affection of the series' stubborn stalwarts?

Tin Salamunic: Say what you want about Dantes new design, but Ninja Theorys Devil May Cry reboot offers a more comprehensive adventure than all previous entries combined. Sure, the storytelling is just as laughable and the writing remains cringe worthy, but its the gun and swordplay that ultimately define DmC, and in that regard, the remake outshines its predecessors in almost every way. The new Dante may be a juvenile cocky hipster, but is he really that different from the old Dante? Not really. Do people actually remember how atrocious the original dialogue was? Probably not. The point is, DmC may be a new start for the series, but the overall tone is relatively unchanged. Whether thats a good or bad thing is up to debate, but the important thing is that the overhauled combat provides an infinitely better experience.

Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition Review | Gaming Nexus

GN: By my estimation, Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition is the sixth Devil May Cry game Ive reviewed since April of 2012. I reviewed last gens HD collection of the original trilogy, DMC Devil May Cry and Vergils Downfall a year or so later, and now its the PS4 version of Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition which includes DMC Devil May Cry and the Vergils Downfall and The Bloody Palace DLC. Its either the epic finale of my Devil May Cry Suite of reviews or evidence that Ive been volunteered to run point on the critical side of the Devil May Cry franchise at Gaming Nexus. So what is Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition anyway? Well, its a current gen reskin of last gens DMC Devil May Cry, including previously released DLC, and two difficulty modifiers that can be turned off and on before each level.

NZGamer: Ive been experiencing a lot of déjà vu lately. It seems like every second game I put in my PS4 is one that Ive already played these days. One with remastered, ultimate, or definitive somewhere in the title. Much like Hollywood movies, the gaming industry seems to be stuck on rinse and repeat. Thankfully though, despite having reviewed this game two years earlier, I found myself being completely drawn into DmC all over again - and with more enthusiasm and stoicism than before. I am now convinced that the Definitive Edition of DmC is a significant step forward from its earlier reincarnation, which is great news for PS4 owners.

DmC: Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition Review [Capsule Computers]

Andrew Day of Capsule Computers wrote: DmC: Devil May Cry was an absolute smash hit when it dropped back in 2012, and we here at Capsule Computers absolutely loved it. Sure there were loyal fans of the franchise who felt the reboot was not only unnecessary, but cheapened the franchise, but for the rest of us DmC was an incredible amount of hack and slash fun. Now the game has been re-released onto the next generation of gaming consoles as the DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition and comes with not only the base game, but the equally exciting Vergils Downfall chapter that was previously a DLC exclusive. However the question still remains; is DmC Definitive edition worth a purchase, or are you fine with your 2012 copy of the game? The answer is that if you already own the game and all of its DLC then there isnt much new here, however the new visual upgrades, 60fps frame rate and new difficulty means that this really is the definitive edition of the game.
